Bob van Persie’s work is based on materials, which seem to be of no value to others. Things people throw away, recreated by Bob to stay. A piece of paper will change into a person, sitting in the stands of a pulsating stadium.

Where people gather and unwittingly create an overall picture. Too far away to recognise faces or to point out the individual. “The perception of a roaring crowd, is like a breeze through cornfields. It sends shivers down my spine,” Van Persie says.

Sometimes, however, when little colour is used in his work, the silence is overwhelming.

Bob uses newspapers and magazines from all around the globe (China, Egypt, USA, Europe) to create his crowds. The papers supply their own colour, paint is not needed.

The finishing is done by glue and varnish, which hardens the paper.
